I am just back from a trip to Rioja with a group of Friends for my Birthday. There was 10 of us and our two days in Rioja were organized by the Fantastic Planeta Pueblo - Estela and Eduardo. The first day we were met at our Hotel in Logroño and taken to Estela's family Bodega Lecea. This is quite a unique Bodega in that the wines are located in Caves . The tour was fantastic . We then did a wine tasting for their exceptional wines with some nibbles of bread and chorizo. After completing this we did a tour of the vineyard . We traveled in an old 60s Land Rover with some of us on Electric bikes. On arrival in the vineyards we cut some grapes and then put them in a cut off barrel and did some grape stomping. After this we had a wonderful alfresco lunch with cold meats ,cheese , tomatoes, bread , tortilla ,made by Estela's mother ( fabulous) and plenty wine. We were then taken back to our Hotel in Logroño. In the evening Estela and Eduardo met us at the Hotel and took us on a tour of Calle Laurel ,where all the best Pinchos bars are located. They took us to 4 bars and we had a wine and different Pinchos in each. They then took us to one more bar for a last wine of the night.
The following day the picked us up and took us to the Marquis de Riscal Winery which was of a totally different scale with some wonderful buildings to see and a lovely wine tasting. From there they took us to another Bodega David Moreno, which is a medium sized Bodega . We had a lovely tour of the Bodega and extracted wine from a barrel using a pipette and poured it into our glasses .We then sat down to a fantastic Riojan Lunch with wine. After this we were transported back to our Hotel. All I can say is that I have wanted to do a tour of Rioja for many years and this trip organized by Planeta Pueblo exceeded my highest expectations. If you are going to do a trip in Rioja I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Our group had such a blast on this tour! We had a wonderful guide who was very knowledgeable and made our trip to the Batalla del Vino interesting and full of fun. It was a once in a lifetime event for me and I highly recommend Estela with Planeta Pueblo to any adventurers out there!

What a trip! I was a solo traveler and was able to participate in the small group experience for 4 days and it was ideal! The other participants were so great and we all got along perfectly. The group leaders, Estela and Eduardo, speak perfect English and are SO friendly, fun, and organized. We got to meet their family members and actually were immersed in their small town where they live and work, and that was so special. We had many activities and also downtime and on the last day was the wine battle, which is the entire town participating, old and young, and it was just incredibly special and I recommend!
